The Counselor in Training (CIT) program at Camp Hardtner is more than a behind-the-scenes look at camp–it’s a meaningful step in the journey from camper to counselor, from high school student to young adult. Designed specifically for graduating high school seniors, the CIT experience honors this unique season of transition with intentional space for growth, reflection, and leadership development.
As graduating seniors, this summer marks their final opportunity to attend camp as participants. The CIT program offers a unique and intentional way to mark that moment—not by simply aging out, but by stepping into a new role. CITs will reflect on their years as campers, explore how those experiences have shaped them, and begin to consider how they might contribute to camp’s ministry in a new way.
CITs will live and work alongside our summer staff, gaining firsthand insight into the role of a counselor while still enjoying the spirit and community of camp. Through mentorship, training sessions, and practical experience, they will grow in skills like communication, teamwork, and child development–while also deepening their understanding of Camp Hardtner’s mission and of themselves.
There is no cost to participate.
To apply for the CIT program interested candidates must complete the online application form. Applications are open to graduating high school seniors (2025 graduates).
