Dear Camp Hardtner friends and family,
We have made the difficult and painful decision to cancel our 2020 summer camp program.
This is not an easy decision given how important we know camp is. However, it is the decision we need to make given the realities of the camp setting (shared communal spaces, bringing together people from across the state), the likelihood of ongoing restrictions of some kind, the implications were there to be even one confirmed case during camp, and the uncertainty that still remains around what the situation will look like for the next few months.
Ultimately, it is out of an abundance of caution for our campers, our staff, their families and everyone else involved with the summer camp program. It is our responsibility to not put the camp community at unnecessary risk.
We know that this will disappoint those who hold camp near and dear to their hearts. While we will grieve the loss of this summer, we will also keep the Camp Hardtner Spirit alive. Though we likely can’t replicate the experience of gathering in-person at Camp, we believe there are creative ways we can still laugh, play, sing, and be together in vibrant, connecting community.
Many of you have already registered and paid deposits and pre-payments of camp session costs. In the coming weeks, you will be contacted directly regarding a refund. You will also have the option of turning deposits or pre-payments into a donation to assist Camp Hardtner in being financially viable tomorrow and in the coming weeks and months. I ask that you prayerfully consider supporting Camp Hardtner in this way.
You are on my mind and remain in my heart as I await a time when we can all be together at camp.

Director
Be present, O merciful God, and protect us through the hours
of this night, so that we who are wearied by the changes and
chances of this life may rest in your eternal changelessness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
