We are thrilled to welcome Tracy Stodghill to the Camp Hardtner team as the Camp Able Coordinator!
Tracy grew up in Monroe and spent her summers as a Camp Hardtner camper from 2006-2016, where a huge part of her experience was volunteering at the Camp Able session.
In fact, it was such an impactful experience that Tracy found a calling working with the special abilities population. She pursued a degree in Elementary Education 1-5/Special Education Mild/Moderate at Louisiana Tech University. While at Louisiana Tech, she spent her summers working at MedCamps of Louisiana from 2017- 2019. In 2019 Tracy served as the Head Counselor at MedCamps. Now she works as the lead teacher at Community School in Shreveport, a division of Holy Angels.
As Camp Able Coordinator, Tracy will help ensure that Camp Hardtner is serving the special needs population of Louisiana to the best of its abilities. Specifically she will further develop staff and volunteer training, implement best practices and procedures, and grow relationships with community partners.
Of her new role, Tracy says, “I am excited to lay the foundation for Able sessions to come! This is an amazing opportunity and I am honored to be giving back to the camp that gave me so much as a camper!”
What is your favorite camp memory?
Every single summer I looked forward to getting to see the many friends I made at my favorite place in the world. My most cherished memories are seeing my friends for the first time in a year and picking up right where we left off!
What is your favorite memory from working at Camp Able?
Every Camp Able session holds a special place in my heart. But if I had to pick a favorite memory, it would be the very first talent show! It was wonderful seeing the joy of Camp Hardtner come to life through our campers! Plus those campers were SUPER talented- it was a downright impressive show!
Favorite camp food?
Shepherd’s pie, of course!
